Was watching the weather channel this morning, and if it goes as they say, the next two Hurricanes, may turn North just before entering the Gulf of Mexico . Just to be safe and possible keep them away, I have not taken the boards off the windows

MEH.. They better stay away. I can't afford to keep running with gas prices and boarding costs.

Speaking of costs.. I've heard that we can apply for FEMA which will cover the expense to evacuate. Anyone know anything about this?

Go to FEMA.gov and check on their website, you must register either online or over the phone. You must also have all your receipts. Todays Lake Charles American Press I believe had an article about it. There is also providing unemployement benefits for those out of work due to the hurricane. Check online or call to file, the sooner the better.

Yeah.. I saw all that on the news last night. As for receipts we don't really have any since all we spent money on was gas and we charged it to our gas cards.. Hmm. I'll see what happens, If I get denied so what? At least I tried. LOL

You can still get you receipts from your credit card company, or go to your online account and print out a statement.

I applied online.. I'm not really worried about it too much but it'd be nice. If I don't get anywhere online, I'll have my husband call them and inquire when he comes back home next Thursday.

That's what they're doing basically. Unless you stayed in a hotel for more than just a few days, You're screwed as far as getting any kind of money to help out with costs.
