Choosing the right collar to fit your dog
This is a good article on many types of collars that are available on the market and how to find the one that is right for YOUR dog.

Re: Choosing the right collar to fit your dog
Have you or anyone else in the forum ever used a no pull harness on a large breed dog? I have one large Male Rotty that I work with sometimes and will at times pull.

I personally haven't but I have some friends that have and said that they do work good. However when using a harness you must realize harnesses are made for pulling.. NOT to control your dog. I'd personally look into a Gentle Leader or just a regular collar and work with the dog every day.

When this big male wants to pull, even with a training choke collar he doesn't stop, until you devert his attention and then he settles down.

Are you using the collar properly? A lot of people tend to use them wrong which can also cause damage to the dogs throat. I've had a few friends have success with prong collars but again, You must use the correctly to get results out of them. I'd prefer to go with training and working with the dog on the issue before using these methods though.
Check out the Gentle Leader, It's a head collar. Kinda like a horse halter.. lol..
